Hastings Direct - cancellation fee

Hi,

I sold my motorbike on Monday 12/07, and phoned Hastings to cancel the policy expecting a refund ....I was flabergasted to hear from them, that as my policy was £100 for the year, that they would be charging a £45 cencellation fee ..... as my refund was only 30%, I actualy owe them £14.
Can this be right? I paid £100 for the year, yet it is going to cost me extra money to cancel, 6 months into the policy

The cancellation fee is a separate issue to any premium refund, and your refund is going towards paying the fee. (You will have agreed to accepting their cancellation conditions when taking out the policy).
