car suitable for 3 child seats

Hi all, we know nothing about cars so need some assistance. My friend need a car that has the 3 point seat belts in all 3 rear seats, she has 1 child who requires a car seat and is expecting twins later in the year.

Her budget in limited, (they have saved for child number 2, but seeing as child now equals children she hasnt accounted for having to replace her car!) she has a 2002 diesel golf that she will be selling and will have limited money to put to it, so realistically she is looking at less than 4k, unless they go into debt for it which isnt really ideal considering maternity pay etc but will have to do if needed.

Ideally they want a diesel as when she is back at work she will be covering 300 miles a week in work miles.

Any ideas would be welcome, we have tried havinga toot on autotrader etc but as we dont even know what cars are suitable its proving quite hard

Brother in law just got a picasso to accomodate 3 child seats, not sure of the rest of the cars details though, except that if you're not carrying the kids the back seats are removable so ideal for collecting freecycle bargins!

Ah to hark back to the days when we were all just loaded into the back with no seatbelts.

^^ Most medium size cars produced in the last 5 years or so will have 3 point centre seat belts.

i would seriously recommend trying them all out with seats at the dealer, 3 full rear seatbelts does not always guarantee that 3 actual seats will be able to be fitted safely side by side

MK3/MK4 Mondeo have 3x3 point belts in the back. The TDCis will do over 50MPG too.

There are not that many cars that will take 3 full size child seats. Of those that do the majority are people carriers with individual rear seats. One option, not ideal and depending on airbag situation, can be child seat in front and 2 children outboard and adult central in the rear.
