Housing benefits

Hi there.
Basically, I applied for housing benefits to help me pay my rent whilst I look for a job after finishing university.
Anyhow, to help me live and as a gift for passing my degree my parents gave me some money (around £2000), but this money didnt arrive until after I had applied.
I've got to go see someone at the housing department at the council tomorrow because there has been a problem with the jobcenter passing on my details.
I want to know for sure that the money they have given me is not going to affect my claim. Does anyone have any knowledge on this subject?
Thanks in advance, Bob.

No, £2000 won't affect your claim, but be sure to tell them about it anyway:

LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0
