CSL are chasing me up for £1005 owed to Lloyds TSB..

Options
Well, the account got shut down ages ago while I was in college. remaining balance was 250 of the overdraft that i paid off, and 750 is bank charges (i was a wee bit over my 250 credit limit, they piled bank charge after bank charge after bank charge). I paid the 250 off ages ago directly to the bank, but the credit agency called 'credit solutions limited' have had my account passed to them.

I can prove i paid the 250. but i shall not pay the remaining 750 for love nor money. In fact, after not having worked for a year and a bit, i want to get my bank charges back - i could use the hardship criteria.

So, what should i do?. I have been threatened with court action by solicitors on behalf of CSL :(. p.s. i've given them a dodgy address too, had to get rid of them somehow..!. But i want this sorted out.

Could someone please help or summarise me what to do?. I can't afford the 1005, I am in financial hardship and can prove so. the money is going to a good cause as well.. Hoe does an IVA sounds? Maybe if i offer them 25pence on the pound they'll accept?. They have given me offers before that i ignored.. As i really don't want to/can't pay them so much, i'm thinking this route to go down..

Thank you to every one who can and does help :)

How long ago? I believe if you haven't contacted anyone regarding it in over 6 years it becomes statute barred

Ignoring debts is never a good idea. Hence why the current government are taking the action thety are regarding the nation's debt.

Lenders usually catch up with you in the end even if you do try using a dodgy address. They will often add extra fees for having to 'find' you too in such circumstances.

By all means try and negotiate something, but there's no obligation on the lender to accept your alternative proposals.

  • CSL are total cowboys. They are chasing me for money which I owe to Egg, which I am trying to sort out, but the way they are going about it is totally illegal. When debt collectors contact you by letter they are supposed to send it in a plain envelope, so anyone else that lives in your house won't know what it's about. They sent a POSTCARD to me, saying that they were going to come on Wednesday! They didn't say which Wednesday, so they have broken another law, as they are only allowed to visit you when they have made an appointment. I still have the card, so if they take me to court I will include a copy with my reply and then the court can decide what to do.

I currently owe CSL £174 which is the remains of a Capital One account which was once about £5000. I am paying £130 per month with the August payment made on 30th. Since then they have rung me almost daily. Last night I finally got back to them. They asked if I could pay the balance immedicately. I asked why when I had made a payment for last month, will pay on 30th sept and then make the final payment on 30th Oct. What is more I have this in black and white as they wrote to me earlier in the year laying out the payments. They are irritating and what is more employ some rude people.
