Washing machine wont fill,any advice please.

Hi, i have a hotpoint Aquarius wd440, i have had it for over 4 years but it is older than that as it is my land ladies. The trouble i have is that it will not fill with water when starting any of the cycles. It will start to fill but not in the detergant part of the drawer nor the fabric conditioner part either. It does try to do a cycle but there is no water filling when it should. In order to finish a wash i am having to manually add the water when it is needed. It spins alright and rinses(after adding more water) but it does fill with the wash cycle. Any help please would be very greatful
