Carpet for room where furniture is moved a lot

Hi
I'm looking for advice for how to tackle my sitting room floor, please. I've got a long sitting room that has cheap, loose, dark finger parquet under the current carpet.
Up one end will be the TV and a sofa that won't move about.
In the middle will be a sofa that will be turned 90 degrees one way for TV watching, be stored flat against the wall or turned 90 degrees the other way for general lazing/ a view of the garden.
Up the 'garden' end, there will also be an 'office' table with a chair on castors.
I don't like the parquet and it will be a faff to renovate. Also, I like carpet.
Should I:
1 Find a carpet for the whole room that will take the abuse from the sofa legs and chair on castors - and does anyone please know what kind of carpet would I need for that?
2 Change the office chair with castors/ get 'cups' to limit the flattening of the carpet?
3 Carpet the TV end and have wood at the 'office' end?
I need to try to keep the cost down too. Any ideas appreciated.
Cheers
