personal number plates
Hi I take delivery of my new company car next week,the car is on contract hire with BMW.I have just found my ideal private plate and would like to purchase it,can anyone advise of the procedure given i will not have the V5 because the car is on contract hire and the DVLA site advises you should be the owner.

Phone the contract hire company, there shouldnt be a problem - make sure its documented though that its your reg and you will be wanting it back at the end of the term0 -
If your buying fron the DVLA direct then there will be no charge for the initial transfer but there will be a charge when your company car is replaced and you have to put it back on a retention certificate, there will be a second charge when you put it on the replacement vehicle and I doubt your company will absorb that charge.0
