Cantilever Umbrellas- any good

Want to buy one, as they look good and look as though they provide plenty of shade. Anyone know if they are any good - compared with the usual brolly that goes in the hole of the patio table. Seen one in our local store £80.00 thanks.

Are you talking about the banana umbrellas? The ones that hang over rather than have a straight pole? If so then I've had one for about 4 years or so and totally love it, mine has a light in it too so you can still sit out when it's dark! It's a lovely big umbrella and gives loads of shade, it's easy to use as it has a ratchet handle to turn to put it up or down and I can't praise it enough!

Second that! Bought one from Bodge and Quit 5 years or so ago, and it's been perfect, best thing is that you actually get shade over the table. Bought 4 slabs to hold it down, and it's never looked like toppling over.
You'll end up moving it around a bit at first, until you work out the best place for it to allow it to swing to provide shade at different times of the day.

Thank you both for your advise. I bought one from our local Best Buys - £80.00 and I love it. It seems strong enough and I have it weighted down with slabs. Cheers .......and thanks again.
