New Greenhouse

We have been given a new greenhouse this week - I was just wondered what we can start growing in it at this time of year as it seems too late for most veg.

Dont see why you cant grow most things and then heat it when it gets cold.

Leafy salads of the "cut & come again" type

Think about new potatoes for Christmas, no need to go in greenhouse yet, but invaluable come Oct / Nov

Bit later in year, Chinese veg, such as Pak Choi

Unless you have pots of money I would not heat over winter, look for things that will love a bit of protection but will be OK with cold, like winter lettuce

You can still grow salad stuff like lettuce although it can be grown outside too, or mixed salad very easy to grow and doesnt take long to crop

    Also take cuttings
  • Thanks very much - we are looking for some cheap staging and will then be sorting some plants out - so excited!

Have you tied The Range for staging? Very good prices and quite sturdy!

Keep an eye out for the old plastic mini greenhouses on freecycle.

The structure itself makes great staging for the not too heavy items, i`m using one in my shed atm minus the cover of course.
