My computers been working ok, so I think maybe I was reading too much into those error codes!
Thanks for the help everyone.
Norton, indeed all third party AV / Firewalls automatically turn off the Windows firewall for the obvious reason.
I would not concern yourself with this, you should have only one firewall running in this case Norton.
Example .. .. even Microsoft Security Essentials turns off the Microsoft Windows firewall and uses its own internal version.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Hi,
the bubble might've just been telling you that you were getting an update, it shows then fades, was it when you had just switched on one day?0 -

Yes, it was when I first switched the computer on. I think it was the day after I'd installed some windows updates. The night before that I clicked to install updates and then let it shut down the PC afterwards, then the bubble with the red icon popped up the next day when I switched it on.0 -
You have updates switched ON !! Wow
First thing I do is turn that off, so intrusive. :rotfl:
The windows firewall thing will crop up everytime you update, if you have another firwall installed it's nothing to worry about.

Pegman, I've just changed to gmail recently, after I had a problem with my yahoo mail. I definitely prefer it.
frugalmacdugal, I've had a look but I don't recognise it on there. It had something like a red icon with an x in it. I was in a rush at the time it happened and wasn't expecting anything like that. I've never seen it happen before.0
