My parents had an absolutely appalling time with this company. They are both disabled pensioners and thought they would take up the hobby of growing a few of their own salads and veggies. They waited 3 or 4 months for the order to arrive with many pounds worth of phone calls, letters and emails recieving no response. They requested a refund etc and the company were abismal and refused to give them one. In the end my parents contacted Trading Standards and were about to involve solicitors to get their money back as no order was ever dispatched from the company.
Ideal World were the ones who took the order, then they blamed their suppliers Garden Bargains for messing my parents around....turns out, Ideal World were .....even as they lied through their teeth ....TAKING OVER Garden Bargains. My parents had spent thousands with Ideal World and now they vow they will never buy from them again, nor the companies they own which trade under other names.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

For £4.45 you can get them from Thompson and Morgan, with 5 free packets of seeds. A little more expensive, but I think T&M have a better reputation."Live each day as if it were your last and garden as though you will live forever"

I bought 3 fruit trees from garden bargains it was from a promo in the Daily Mail ,the plum tree died and they were brilliant responding to my email/complaint and they replaced the tree promptly.That said not too sure about Ideal World I've bought a couple of things from them and wasn't impressed so if they've taken over Garden Bargains doesn't bode well:(0

Yes they do but I found them slow at sending stuff out but in fairness I found other companies just slow
I just emptied one of these an hour or so which I got from Suttons I followed instruction and put 3 potatoes in, I got a very small crop despite watering regularly and applying feed
I got about a 3rd of a 5 litre bucket (paint) load, pretty expensive for a crop when you take into the costs of the 3xbags I got plus 6 spare potatoes and compost
I let them get sprout before planting and the flower die down

Why not try the recycling bags you get from the council for your green waste?Seed potatoes were available all over the place quite cheap Wilkos,pound shop etc We're fortunate to have an allotment so grow our spuds the usual way but I know several folk who do it in bags0

sorry to hijack, but i planted (for the first time) 4 seed potatoes, now they are in the garden and the tops are about 4ft tall,
Im sure this shouldnt happen but can anyone tell me what i have done wrong (one of them has flowered) so i am lying in wait for the flowers to die.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
sometimes potatoes get a bit leggy but I thinks yours sound a little "too"tall:eek:
What variety did you plant ?Earlies ,2nd earlies or main crop?
If you rootle around at the base ,carefully brush the soil away and see what you've got.0 -
We never buy seed potatoes,we just plant any that have sprouted in the veg draw.If I go to friends houses and spot any sprouty poatoes I always ask if I can have them to plant.We plant them in any thing we can find.At the moment we are growing some in a big builders bag, and a big black bin with drainage holes in.I fill with soil and plant them,I dont keep earthing them up,we seem to have a good crop each time.0

This is very good value too, some excellently flavoured varieties here;
