money not taken from account

I have bought something but the money has not been taken out of my bank account (through my debit card), I have received the goods I paid for. This was over a week ago, is this common for it to take so long and how long do they have to legally claim the money?

They can legally claim the money any time they like. You received the goods, so they are entitled to it.
Don't spend it and give the company a call to find out what is going on, they might just be having payment processing issues (it happens).
The money should eventually leave your account without any warning.
If they say "oh don't worry about it, keep the money it's our mistake" or something similar, GET IT IN WRITING before spending it (for obvious reasons).Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0 -

I paid for something using a credit card, closed the account, 6 months later the payment came out. They just sent me a statement I had to pay, whilst not reopening the account.0 -
Looks like they have all bases covered, and I'm not going to profit out of this inconvenience.
See you in six years

Why should you profit? Why should the people/company you bought something from lose out?0

Because they're not doing their job properly and have inconvenienced me.
My bank/credit card company charged me for not making transfers on time, why should this be different?0 -
Because one is in the T&Cs...and the other isn't!marking_bad wrote: »My bank/credit card company charged me for not making transfers on time, why should this be different?
Where's the inconvenience? You just have to remember you've £x less than your balance states...for probably just a few more days.0 -
