Q. Name the pin that Moist gave to Stanley that he said he found.
A. ?????
The first three randomly selected correct entries will get a prize. The prize: well we cannot because of contractual obligations give you what we have created exclusively for Fox. But we can give you some of the original artwork created by Ian and myself, so how about that?
To enter, send your answer along with your postal address to competitions@discworldmonthly.co.uk by 20th July 2010 (Your address will only be used if you are a winner and only for sending out your prize - once prizes are sent out all address information will be destroyed). Entries received after 20th July 2010 or sent to any other address will be ignored. No more than one entry per person will be accepted. Judges decision is final.
The three winners will be announced next issue.

Yes, It has shaken my faith in the all knowing interweb!!:rotfl:0 -
I think giving out the answer to the competition like this is cheating a little don't you.
I'm running the competition and I wondered why I was getting a few extra entries this month. Thanks for spoiling the challenge and spirit of the competition by giving out the answers.
In future competition rules will be changed so that entries are filtered against the mailing list.0 -

This is how this site works.
However, we do have a list of sites that do not want the answers published, and so that is adheared to - if you do not want your competition answers given away, the just let the person who finds your comps know, and it will be added to the list.0 -
So as requested: I hereby request that Discworld Monthly competitions are no longer listed on this site.
I can't tell you what address not to get them from because the message boards won't let me post links.0 -

Is this the competitions full stop - or just the answers?
Normally firms/people/promoters dont mind the competitions being posted, a few just dont like the answers being posted as it can stop people visiting the sites, and they sometimes have the comps to encourage people to visit. I myself have discovered loads of sites this way that i would never have come across if it hadnt been for MSE!
Im not sure we have ever had someone ban the comps completely, but if you dont want it here, then im sure that is not a problem. (but make sure your readers/members know that too, as its people who visit your site who find the comp and then post it).0 -

It's not really a site as such, but a newsletter. And a very interesting newsletter if you're a Pratchett fan

We are a free newsletter and website. The competitions are usually most relevant to the subscribers of the newsletter and for the most part the prize providers either want people to visit their site (not applicable in this case otherwise the question would be based on their website) or they want to provide something special to fans of the Terry's work. What they don't want, and I've spoken to the people that offered the prize, is for it to appear on eBay next week because it is just another win for the professional competition player.
Personally I would have been happy for this to be put on the website if I had been asked. Relevant contact details appear in every issue / page of website. Just not the answer. Never the answer. Competitions should have some challenge to them.
I see the answer has been removed which is nice but that has really confused some of your readers... I've now received a few answers of "my dusty copy of 'Going Postal'". Which if nothing else has put a smile on my face

Thanks for clarifying - i will PM Velvet Glove so she can add this site to the do not post answers or contact details, so that any comps posted here will be directed to you if they would like to answer
