Homebase = rubbish customer service!

Options
A warning to anyone contemplating buying wallpaper on line - we are still awaiting delivery of an order placed on line on 6th July; despite the website saying delivery within 5 days, the email confirmation says 7 days and the order tracking says delivered (but does not actually mean that I have received my order), nothing has arrived.

Many expensive phone calls over the last 3 days has not got me much further apart from a promise to refund me 10% equivalent to the latest 10% day offer, which the order would now qualify for; or a full refund if I cancel the order, which does not get me the wallpaper I want.

Not one call from Homebase themselves, nor an email; nothing to explain why the delay or where the goods are. If we ever get the goods it will be the last order they ever get from me.

Trouble is we live at least 60 miles from the nearest big diy store, so the time and cost of a visit to buy wallpaper is not something I really wanted to do.

Well, another day has dawned without any calls/emails from Homebase! Now 14 days since the order was placed.
  • I had an experience instore with their customer service, they were rubbish, wrote and told them and they were equally rubbish

The penultimate day has dawned before I have to cancel my order, otherwise I run out of time to do the decorating - oh the joys of internet shopping!
  • I had probs with them too, not instore but online, won't use again.
Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!

Finally, my first email from Homebase; does it have a delivery date?

No of course not, simply says one of the wallpapers is out of stock and not expected for at least another 4 weeks - do I want to wait or cancel the order!

So, another expensive phone call later I get told "no, we can't split your order or just delete the missing paper from the order and deliver the balance; it's wait or cancel the whole order".

Needless to say I cancelled; then they insult me even more by informing me that the refund will be another 7 days in coming!

So now I have a last minute round trip of at least 160 miles tomorrow to find alternatives; thanks Homebase!!!!!!!!!!

Same thing happened to me at Halfords, what a bunch of jokers :(
No one said it was gonna be easy!
  • Just had a similar situation.....
placed an online order with Homebase. They couldn't be bothered to tell me they had problems getting it.
Needless to say they couldn't be bothered to sort out any of the problems this created. When i finally did get a response from customer services they blamed everybody but themselves.

Took my money the minute order was placed but funnily enough took days to give it me back when order was cancelled! (and guess what, that's my banks fault according to Homebase!!!)

In the time it took for Homebase to respond to an email i placed and recieved the item from John Lewis!

I wont be shopping with Homebase again:mad:

We finally received a refund back to our CC on 28/7, some 22 days after the cancelled order was originally paid for.
