 purchased a 40inch full 1080p samsung hd lcd tv from tesco for £700 pounds of my hard earned cash. 18months later it packs up working! contacted tesco who refused an exchange due to over 12months, they sent a form out for me to fill in so they could asses my claim. i returned it with proof of purchase and 10 days later tesco offer me £270 refund!!!
i find this shocking i appreciate im over the 12 month guarantee but u dont spend that kind of money on a product and expect only 18 months use!!
tried manufacturer but they also refused repair or exchange
help please

They are entitled to offer you a partial refund based on usage but that figure is laughable, by my calculations they are only expecting your TV to last around 2 1/2 years which is crazy. Get back to them and reject this and ask them to back with a better figure based on the TV having a more reasonable lifespan, eg 5 years.0

You also have to consider that the off would be based on the price of an equivalent new TV which has come down to about £500 approx. The offer they have given still seems low so definitely worth fighting0

yes i checked tesco and several other web site the equivalent model still retails for between 549 and 699 depending on where u buy it. i first contacted tesco about this on 30th june, they stated yesterday i would get the 270 refund in 21 days!
surely this time scale is not at all reasonable??i have two beautiful baby boys now

No the contract is with the retailer, not the manufacturerThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

despite numerous calls to tesco and repeatingly being told they will call me back i have heard nothing, they have the worst customer service i have dealt with and when i finally got to speak to a manager the gentleman inforned me its just a job title they all have in the call centre!!! and that he was no higher than previous staff i had spoken to. i am now going down the small claims route and strongly recommend that people dont purchase electricals from tesco in future. in a word ..... disgustedi have two beautiful baby boys now
