Has anyone claimed Maternity Allowance while self employed for MS'ing? As far as I can tell they dont need proof of income, I just have to be up to date with class 2 contributions. Anyone know if this is right and that it is paid at the full amount for 39 weeks?
Thanks
Yes. They just pay you the full amount regardless of what your actual earnings are.
If you've paid enough Class 2, it's about £125 a week for 39 weeks.
If you've paid the Class 2 and have a Small Earnings Certificate, you get £27 a week for 39 weeks.HIPS are no more.
OoopsLast time I moved home was 1996!

Can anyone help with this quickly? I am doing a gap pizza report atm and I'm not sure which way I should answer.
Was the appearance of your xx aceptable. It wasn't right at first, and had something added that it shouldn't have, which I couldn't eat. When they brought it back correct it was fine.
I am guessing I base it on the first one that was brought out so the answer would be no????0 -

I would base it on the first one - also make a note of what happened in the 'comment' box at the end.ELITE 5:2

Think becles may have mis-typed, but just to clarify that if you have a small earnings certificate you DON'T pay any class 2 contributions - that's the whole point of it
Anyway, even if you have had a small earnings certificate, you can still back pay your class 2 contributions to cover 26 weeks in the test period and you will then be entitled to the full £125. Mad, I know, but the loophole exists. I couldn't quite believe it myself when I was informed by the lovely man at the DWP - seems way too good to be true! Especially when you don't even have to be earning anywhere near £125 a week at the time!
Didn't post this all first time round as didn't want to bore too many people - but maybe it will help some others!January 2012 GC £296.96/£3000
