I have installed a new hard drive in a laptop and now I need an operating system. The old hard drive had vista premium on it and I have bought the same hard drive to replace it. I need a copy of windows but I need to spend as little as possible. I don't know a student so I can't get a student discount and ebuyer is the cheapest I can find. Can anybody tell me if there is anything cheaper please? Sub 50 quid would be marvellous. Thank you.

Does the laptop have a CoA sticker on the bottom? Which brand and model?0

Yes it does, it has the original sticker on there. The model is a hp g6000, specifically g6090.0

So you don't need to purchase another license, you just need the Vista disc. I don't mind sending a disc.0

You should already have a recovery disk that will allow you to restore the operating system. Sadly many companies now use recovery partitions instead which are located on the hard drive.
You could try contacting HP support as they often provide a cheap recovery CD/DVD. If you have a university e-mail you can also obtain Office and Windows 7 cheaply through Microsoft's Ultimate Steal offer http://www.microsoft.com/uk/education/studentoffer/0 -
Just use the spare cash to buy more RAM. PC2-5300 SO-DIMM.0

Brilliant, thanks again. Oh, I'm posting on a phone and I wasn't sure my pm got to you so I sent it again. On the second I got a message from Mse saying that your pm box is too full to recieve anymore pms. You may want to have a spring clean.0 -

Thank you, but I have put a brand new hard drive in. I wish I knew a student, those prices are super low, but alas I don't. Nice to see students have uses though!0 -
Sorry, I misread your post. Thought you said you wer a student rather than you weren't0
