Will my seeds be allright?
I left my gardening bag at the allotment on Monday evening and it rained quite a lot over the next two days. I only realised when I went back to the allotment yesterday to find it sitting by the shed door where I put it down while I locked the door.
It had a bundle of seed packets in there which had obviously got damp. Although only the top ones were completely soaked they had all got a bit damp. The ones that had unopened foil packets inside will presumably be fine but what do people think about the others?
Some had foil inner packets which had been opened and the foil edge folded over. I think those will be OK. But the rest just had loose seeds inside the paper packets and they probably did get dampish.
Do you think I can save them and sow them next year - they would otherwise all be in date?
thanks very much for any advice

It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I'm guessing that if they got damp they will want to germinate and grow - better plant them and freeze the surplus!Aiming to be debt & mortgage free by November 2018!0

Unfortunately, they're nearly all seeds that should have been sown in March/ April - I wsa hoping to use half the packet next year as they were sow by December 2011. Presumably if I sow them now they won't ripen before autumn.
Oh well, teach me not to be so carelessIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
The quesion begs: Are the seeds in foil?
If so there should be no problem but otherwise they'll be spoilt if not sown quickly.0 -

some are in unopened foil and I'm not worried about them. Others are in foil but the foils has been opened and the end folded over. I think they are probably OK. It looks like the ones that were just in paper packets are gonersIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
