    Acrylic won't shrink like pure wool, for example :(

    I once washed some acrylic jumpers at 90deg by mistake (previous load had been teatowels:D ) but to my surprise they shrunk only a little bit, so it might be worth trying that.

    Is it too long, or too wide or both? You said it was a tank. If it is sleaveless are the armholes too big? You could probably take it in a little under the arms and take it up by heming it like you would if it were a woven fabric.
