guttering

i have a 5 foot piece of guttering which needs replacing at the rear of my house and a 15 foot peice at the front of my house which also needs either replcing or resealing as when it rains it pours out in one place ( not down the drain).

i have contacted 1 company ( there are not many local ones and this is the only one who has answered his phone).

he is quoting £60 call out charge??

and £30 per metre of guttering replace??

as 4 metres of guttering can be purchased for £6.00 this seems an aweful lot of money.

is this the going rate in birmingham?

Is there any chance you could find a small general builder/handy person to do the job as it may work out cheaper?

What you've been quoted sounds a horrendous amount, especially the call out charge. :eek: Even in London you can find tradesmen with a lower rate than that. The plumber I use has a £50 min charge, but that includes an hour or so of work.
