removals insurance

Ihave just contacted my insurance company (Lloyds) to see if we are covered for our move. Unfortunately we are not covered if you belongings are held overnight, all removals have to be picked up and delivered in one day. Does anyone know of any good companies to get insurance from.:)

  • contact the company that are going to be doing your move. They will have their own insurance policy. If you are still not happy you can find companies that will specialise in this sort of insurance

Thanks MummyFlemming, of course I know I can google, I was just asking if anyone knew of any companies that would do it so I don't get ripped off.
  • I've always paid for the insurance with the removal company actually moving my stuff. Often, breakages are only covered if the removal company have also packed the items (i.e. not you putting stuff into boxes). Contact the removals company, like mummyfleming suggests - I've never had to google for separate cover.

    Good luck with your move.

We use Pax - it is military insurance and particularly insures kit, and insures for moves both in the UK and overseas.

We also use Pax - but I have to admit that after numerous military moves we don't have anything that is so precious that we'd be sad to see it break. Depends where you're moving to I guess. I'd be happy to chance it for an internal UK move. But for a move to N Ireland or wherever you cross water I'd get special insurance. x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

You do need marine insurance if your stuff is going to be shipped overseas.

I was shipping my effects and used Centor Insurance. It won't let me post the link, but google finds it.
