Beware Santander high charges for international payments

I made a payment to an account in Spain about 2 weeks ago from my A & L account and was charged £16.
My account was migrated to Santander last week I think. I had to make another payment to another payee in Spain yesterday, and was informed the charge for this service is now £25! Quite a jump eh?
I'm not impressed. I've been with Alliance & Leicester for over 20 years (when it was Girobank) and am now seriously thinking of moving to another bank.

That was the fee Abbey charged, and has been for years, £25 for telegraphic transfers so now any A&L prices will be replaced by whatever Spamtander charge now.0

The fee now beng charged isn't high, just in line with what the other banks charge. Remember you can use your card in Santander cash machines abroad with no charge.0

Well you go into a branch and tell them you wish to do a telegraphic transfer and watch the staff eyes roll. None of them wont do it cos the PBA gets no points for actually serving the customer. The counter cant do them and nor can reception. MA and CRM usually are doing jack !!!! so wont pitch in either. The PBA on a desk does them. You will probably be told cant be done now you will have to book in and that will be very early in a day. The PBA will take ages doing it cos they dont know how due to the ridiculously complicated system. Then they will flip a coin as to whether they sent it sterling or sterling equivalent. The SCM will be too busy to validate it so you may miss the cut off point. The SCM will throw a paddy when the PBA tells them it is urgent. The BM will be more concerned why the PBA has not achieved 200 points that day and why they have not flogged loads of Reward Bank Accounts that customers dont want. Such is Santanturd.0
