Hi All,

I'm thinking about buying this vehicle and getting it delivered.

Anyone have any reviews about Auto Quake? Or anything I need to be aware of on the vehicle / about the company? I'm specificially after a 1.3 Diesel Astra 5 door Hatchback

Thanks!

Autoquake will sell you an expensive extended warranty. Don't bother. In my experience they will do everything in their power to avoid paying.

A temperature sensor associated with the fuel system failed on my wife's car, estimated bill just under £200. The warranty providers Car Care Plan refused to pay because it is not a part listed in their policy documents.

The policy lists various parts of the fuel injection system and Engine Management as covered, but because temperature sensors are not specifically listed they are deemed not covered. Autoquake backed the party line of the insurer. The only remedy offered was that I had 14 days to cancel the policy after I took it out.

I would need to be a qualified mechanic to understand the nuances of the policy so how could I make an informed judgement? This is just a weasel to avoid paying.

I checked with trading standards and their opinion is that the warranty is whatever the supplier chooses to include, so beware.

Try Googling for 'Auto Quake'. Then selecting the 'More' button on the left, then clikcing on 'Discussions'.

It'll show you recent results from forums about the company. I always use it to research companies I'm unsure of!

...or just do the wise thing and avoid them.

That's a real mish-mash of tyres on the car - one Michelin Energy, one Michelin Pilot, one Pirelli P6000 and one identified. Decent brands but indicative of someone who didn't care what goes on the car.

Just what i was thinking. I always replace tyres in pairs. Especially the driven wheels (front, in this case). It can be dangerous otherwise. Looks like exactly the car i would expect from AutoQuake. Heard nothing but bad things about them.

On a separate note, are you sure a 1.3 diesel will be worth getting? Surely it'd struggle to move itself with such a small underpowered engine. I drive one of those Astras at work with a 1.6 petrol and it's still slow as hell.
  • IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO STAR, I WOULD! Probably the worst company you can deal with. I spent over £14,000 and was robbed!

I should have read these review sites before buying from such a shoddy company. Car came with a different colour and more damage compared to pictures.

There were faults with the vehicle which gradually got worse and have now cost me over £870 within 4 months of purchase. I have emailed their CEO who refused to budge.

    Remember your rights - http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_world/consumer_affairs/buying_second_hand_vehicles.htm

They have to prove the fault was not there at purchase point in the first 6 months of purchase.

Save yourself the money and hassle and buy from a reputable company, not these monkies. Oh well, off to see my solicitors now!
