Website Hijacked?

I tried to go to one of my favourite websites, etiquettehell.com, instead of the usual gossipy stuff I found a load of adverts for driving lessons and jobs and other stuff. The website was fine this morning, but now I can't get it either via my favourites link or by googling it, just these adverts. Have they been hijacked or is it my computer?

You sure you've not just typo'd the website address? Etiquette usually doesn't have that many t's.
But wait - the real etiquettehell.com has let their domain registration expire at 23:20 yesterday. Silly billies...0 -

Apparently I spelt it wrong here! The link has only 3 Ts in it. So what happens to the website now? Can the owners get it back?0 -
They can re-register it if it's still available but some people make money by buying dropped domains and reselling them back to you at a premium price!0

How do you register a website? I mean who is in charge of them? Do you have to pay for a name, aside from the use of a server?0
-
I think most registrars operate a "period of grace", so although expired it's showing as "locked". During that time, only the previously registered "owner" can re-register.
If you want to register the name you will have to wait until that period has expired.
Edit: Incidentally, the registrar is shown as Enom, Inc. Unfortunately the site owner has chosen a privacy protection service, so it may be harder to contact them if you want to.0 -
I don't want to register it myself, I just want it to get back to normal!0

You could try emailing the admin contact, though this is via a third party, so who knows if the email address is actually monitored.

I would advise against visiting this site. See more here: http://anubis.iseclab.org/?action=result&task_id=1bd65ca06449bc134a1804e3ab9855fd4&format=html0

I am using firefox and I didn't click on any links - I don't entirely understand that report, is my computer in danger?0
