Broadband speed dropped - no apparent reason

Im with AOL and have been for years.
Broadband speed has been consistently 2.6 however noticed last couple of days its taking an age.
Run some speedtests and only getting around 0.4............
SO im running normal laptop with no changes to set up - router set up as normal.
Ive run some virus scans to see if that could be the issue but nothing is being flagged.
Tried a few times to call aol with no joy - before i try again - any suggestions here?

Have you had a lot of disconnections? Go to http://speedtester.bt.com/ and see what profile it says you're on. If you're having disconnections, BT lower the speed profile until you get a stable connection. Had this problem with my parents recently due to a dodgy microfilter.0

If you have exceeded you limit, they could of throttled you speed until the next month.0

Ill go to that speedtester site but just checking something and need to wait till that has finished.
I dont have a limit - im on unlimited broadband - thanks tho.0 -

Wont allow me to run the test for some reason.

log into your router and check the speeds you're synced at.They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

Thats where i had got the above speeds from.
Just done a HJT log and there seems to be tons more stuff listed since the last one. - Can that affect it or just coincidence?0 -
