It needs to be a few days, but it depends on room conditions, temperature etc
However, best to give it a pee coat first, basically seal the new plaster with a mix of PVA and water (about 1 to 10) before painting.0 -
how many times does it need to be said not to use pva when sealing walls, you use a non vinyl emulsion (dulux supermatt) paint watered down 20-30%
Please explain why you have made this advice up, and back it up with some actual facts from say, a paint manufactures website or the back of any tin of paints instructions on how to seal wallsgo on, adopt a greyhound

I agree, never PVA new plaster walls, do a 'miscoat' that will seal the walls, however I would say that you can get away with using vinyl silk or soft sheen paint on newly plastered if the walls have been skimmed, other than that, use trade Matt, or super matt, or even matt for new plaster.
New plaster should be okay to paint when plaster turns a very pale pink.0 -
dulux supermatt (click supermatt) has no vinyl in it. This means you can paint it on wet plaster (one day old) as it creates no barrier and the moisture goes through the paint. This is its main selling point.
Also, really cheap bnq matt paint normally isnt vinyl, so its cheaper to use as well........just for sealing the plaster, then overpaint in some good stuffgo on, adopt a greyhound

I waited 2 weeks after our ceilings were plastered and painted over with vinyl matt (20% water for 1st coat then just the paint 2nd coat). They have been fine for for 6 months and the paint went on fine.0
