Two courgette plants - one courgette

I've got two courgette plants, but only one little courgette between them! There's lots of flowers, but they must be male because there's no little courgettes behind the flowers. I'm really jealous of the thread about making courgette soup because people have so many courgettes they don't know what to do with them :o

Now what can I do with one small courgette ... ?

    Hi

Quite often plants start by producing male flowers only and then get round to producing female flowers later.

You could also boost production by feeding them with a bit of tomato feed or seaweed.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

That's good news. Maybe I'll get to make courgette soup this year after all!

I'm giving it plant food once a week. It's not tomato feed but a general all-purpose food. Should I switch?

Have grown courgette's for years, and we all know that those clever dicks :D that have courgettes early , start getting sick of them before us. Most years from a couple of plants I can supply half the street.By the beginning of Sept people will start crossing over the street to avoid me, in case I force more courgette's on them.

So let all:beer: your courgette's be little and not become tasteless marrows

My husband is really pleased I only have one courgette - he hates them. He's like a child - I chop them up really small and put them in all sorts of meals and he's never any the wiser.

I hope I get people crossing the street to avoid my courgettes too!

My wife likes them very lightly boiled/microwaved
The only way I have them is fried /baked.... no colour no taste!

Have you picked the first one yet or is it still growing? The reason I ask is that I only had one, and then it appeared to stop growing so I picked it (it was only a couple of inches long). Since picking it (only last week), I have found that there are at least 4 new ones starting to grow on the plant now! I am looking forward to having too many to know what to do with but for the time being I'm keeping an eye on the thread with courgette recipe ideas so that when the time comes, I'll know how to use them!
  • I have 5 courgette plants and was looking forward to having too many (rather that than not enough) but so far?????

    One courgette.........

I can see a wee baby one starting but I want em now so I can make Nigellas Happiness soup!!
