My son droped his laptop : ( with the charger in and it has pushed the pin in where it charges and now wont charge up. Any idea how much it will cost to fix. I have same laptop and have been charging my battery up and then swapping it with his for the time being.

Depends whether the shop you take it to wants the work or not. If they do, maybe £50-80, if not £120+
The part itself (if damaged beyond re-use, which it may not be) should cost less than £3, but the dismantling and reassembly job is usually fiddly and time-consuming.0 -

I charge £30 (1 hour labour - doesn't take me long to strip them nowadays as I've done loads:D) plus parts. The part should be no more than a couple of quid unless its one of the multipin jobbies that you can only get from the manufacturer. So you should be looking at an hours labour, possibly two at the very most plus a few quid for the part.

DHL Courier delivery isn't too expensive if you can't find some reliable locally to fix it.0

just google the model+ dissasemble
eg
http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A355-A355D/laptop-disassembly-1.htm
then you can strip it down and have a look
could be as simple as the power port needing soldered on0 -

I must say that's very reasonable. What area do you cover, if you don't mind me asking?
East Yorkshire. I'd say send them to me but after you've added £20 or so for the collection and delivery, it makes it a bit uneconomical and on par with what you should be able to get it done for locally.
There is someone on Ebay (not me) who used to advertise power socket repairs for laptops. Not sure if they still do. I think it was £35 plus whatever delivery charges were involved and they were possibly based in the South West.0
