IPod Touch 3g and VPN

I have just bought a 32gb 3rd gen ipod touch and love it
What I am after is setting up a VPN for when I am out and about in Starbucks etc
Now I have used the two most people seem to recommend, itshidden.com and HotSpotShield. But neither will work. When I turn the VPN on, it connects then fails the authentication everytime. I have reset up countless times, different accounts, factory reset the ipod etc, but always the same
So does anyone use a VPN on an ipod touch, which one, and any problems?
Cheers

I can't comment regarding the ipod / VPN issue,
Regarding the failure, when it fails authentication are you getting any specific errors, what settings are you entering to connect with?
I'm sure you've probably already seen this bit, but thought I'd put it up in case it helps you or anyone else.. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1288
Also which VPN are you connecting to... I'm assuming your home one ?
Did you open up the relevant ports?Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Both of the VPN's I hve mentioned also display the exact settings you need to enter into the ipod, and under which VPN area (L2PT, PPTP etc) so I know that is correct
The VPN i am trying to use is the itshidden and HotSpotShield, nothing from my home. That was the idea so I can use the ipod when I am out and about in public unsecured wifi spots
Thanks for the link, I had not seen that page. I will have a proper read of it at homeThere are 10 kinds of people that understand binary
