Hi there.
I bought an MSI Wind last week and also ordered 1GB Kingston Value RAM.
The RAM came today and I put it in the netbook as instructed on afew online Vids.
However, when I now go to Computer - Right Click- Properties, its still showing as 0.99GB of RAM.
Should It be showing the extra RAM on here or have I done something wrong?
Thanks.

Providing the RAM is compatible and correct it should show as installed
I'm assuming it was previously 1GB ram installed before hand ?
Do you have the serial number of the RAM module.
You could also try removing both and inserting the new one. Make sure the notches latch in place, see if it boots up. If it doesn't then could be faulty RAM, incompatible RAM, or duff RAM slot
OR also, out of date BIOS eek!Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Ooooooops, sorry, its the MSI U100 Plus.
I used that Crucial site to check the compatiable memory, then searched for it online for a better price.
Yeah, it was a 1GB.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks
Few things I'd like to put forward.... btw, double check all your fittings, it's easy to overlook this. Laptop memory is harder because it locks in place, but always worth checking.- Startup the computer and boot into BIOS (F1/F2/Del) and check the RAM here, how much listed?
- Bad memory
- Incompatible memory
- Incorrectly installed memory (or not fully contacting)
- Out of date BIOS
- Faulty motherboard or faulty RAM slot
- Open RAM slot and remove existing RAM and the module you purchased
- Leave the existing RAM out and put your 1GB module in the slot where the existing RAM module was.
- Boot up computer and see if it loads
If the laptop boots up with that RAM and shows as 1GB in Windows, try installing the other module in slot2 and seeing if it works then, if it does...... possibly had a fuddy contact the first time round
If it doesn't work, then it's a bad slot, BIOS issue or compatibility problem between the two RAM modules.... this is the whole reason why people get anal about using the same types of chips. Reduces the chances of problems with compatiblity
The main thing to always check is to see if the BIOS picks it up, if it doesn't read it in the BIOS, then it means the motherboard isn't reading the memory. Which either points to M/B or memory chip..Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Well I just tried that BIOS thing from the start up and it said; Physical Memory; 1024mb, so im guessing it hasnt worked.
Ill try opening it now and try the other things.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Ok, so turns out i was being abit of a dumb a$$. I hadn't pushed the ram in far enough into the slot.
So now i have 1.99GB of RAM, happy days.
