Odd PC behaviour - any advice please?

I was just looking through the forum a short while ago when my screen blacked out and there was the sound you get when your puter discovers new hardware has been plugged in, if you know what I mean. The screen reappeared in safe mode, blacked out again and then returned to normal again with that sound you get when it finds new hardware.
I cant see anything odd on here - Kaspersky not reporting anything either but I did have some MS updates last night?

I don't think that's possible - though it would help if you were to say which version of Windows you have. As I understand it, you can only enter and leave Safe Mode by rebooting.
If you simply mean that the screen appearance changed, this sounds to be an intermittent hardware problem - possibly the graphics card/chipset overheating?0 -
Hi, yes well I spose I do mean that, the black screen disappeared and then the page reappeared in the big text you get with safe mode. Then blacked out and returned to normal size with the two tone sound you get when you add or remove say your camera lead. Im using VISTA
Most odd. malwarebytes has found zilcho.0 -
If it's a desktop PC, I'd power it off, open it up and check that any plug-in cards are fully seated, and that if the graphics card has a heatsink and/or fan, it's not clogged with fluff.
If a laptop, I'd also check for fluffed up ness.0 -
this sort of thing can happen when graphics drivers are updated, check which updates went in before this happened. May be nothing to worry about.
Agree the "safe mode" thing sounds extremely unlikely.Friendly greeting!0 -
