    Let your son decide!

It would be a good learning experience, even for an 11 year old, to take some responsibility in planning for his own future - I enjoyed seeing my savings grow with an my fashioned passbook account when I was that old, topped up through birthdays, pocket money, and eventually paper rounds!
All my views are my monkey's views. I give advice on behalf of my pet monkey and do I give banana related advice. All my posts are my monkey's opinion and no-one else's.

I agree. At 9 he is at a good age to start learning about investing etc.
Think how wise he will be when he starts work after tracking all his investments.
  • I disagree on letting a 11-years old decide on 9000 pounds. At 11I was not capable of understanding the meaning of 9000 pounds and I suppose still today all yound children can think of are enjoyments and things to buy.
Put it is a good saving account fixed for 1/2 years, so the temptation to spend it will disappear (Ruffler bank will do).

I agree with distributing the interest and let him use it as he likes. That sort of money is manageable at 11!
