Hi
will be keeping fingers crossed for your OH's interview coming up. My OH has been in his p/t job for exactly a year now and itwas the best thing that he ever did. Don't panic quite as much now when the weather mens he can't go out gardening and he also gets the opportunity to do some overtime. I am really proud of the way that he threw himself into the new job as the only thing he had ever done was gardening for the last 30 years.
I really hope everything turns out OK for you too - I really know what you have been going through as I was in the same position as you 12 months ago.

Thank you so much Gettingmylifestraight, it was you who put the idea of part-time work in my head and this job is part-time but would make a massive difference to us;)
We've got everything crossed that OH is successful in his interview but I really can't thank you enough:T

Aah, glad to have helped. My hubbys job has been a real life saver at times financially, but most of all gave him his get up and go back!!
I really really hope everything turns out ok for you too. xx0 -
It seems like a lifetime since OH was told that he has an interview! It seems that the job has been re-advertised. We are taking this as a positive I.e. low number of suitable applicants or not enough interest in the position:o OH should hear when the interview will be sometime this week.
Back on track after a horrible January, started to add to my emergency fund again so feel better. I like to have a bit of something to fall back on for those unexpected expenses.
Good news at my workplace re: expenses, which has always been a worry for me when I work away. They are now going to pay for hotels, flights and the like so I don't have to find that money upfront anymore...phew! I will still need to pay for petrol and claim it back but I include that in my budget.
I'm getting close to the halfway point now with the amount of debt that we owe so it will be all downhill from there (that's what I tell myself anyway). I have a few smaller milestones too e.g all CC's now under 4k and 1 very close to less than 1k:o
Take care

OH finally had his interview on Monday this week and progressed through to a second stage interview. We had a fraught couple of days waiting but then he received his phonecall... he didn't get the job as someone else had a chainsaw licence and he didn't! He had the experience, the local knowledge of the area and everything else but that elusive piece of paper meant that he missed out. We are gutted:( but on the bright side his business is picking up again now that the weather is a little milder so we carry on a while longer!
Everything else is chugging along but we've almost reached an enormous milestone - 50% of our debts will have been paid back next month:jit's been a long road bumpy in parts so far but I feel as though this is a massive achievement and it spurs me on to the next hurdle;)
Take care all

Thanks Puzzcat - just over 50%! I set myself milestones along my journey and this one is huge, it spurs me on and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel getting bigger:j
Work is getting better for OH bits and pieces are coming in now so our situation is becoming a little easier for us which is a relief.
Life on the whole is good and we have learnt to live with our DMP and even though sometimes things are hard, I still think that we did the right thing and I dread to think where we would have ended up if we hadn't done this

I've not updated for a while as I have been so busy! We have a new grandson and he has been our main focus. We love having him and he makes everything so worthwhile.
On the debt-busting front, things have been hard these last few months but we are still managing to survive...just!
We are over the half way mark now and have approx 34 months to go - might seem a long time but it will soon pass when you consider we have been on our DMP for 46 months and it seems like no time at all.
It's strange the things that we do these days that we would never have dreamed of doing a while ago. In the past, none of my clothes would ever wear out but now I wear stuff until they can't be worn anymore I.e. they end up with holes in them! My wardrobe used to be full of clothes that I hadn't even worn but now I make full use of everything and I don't feel deprived (much!)
I continue to set milestones along the way and the next one is reaching the 20k mark which isn't that far off
I dream of being debt-free, we want to sell our house and downsize, give up the job that I loathe and go and do something else less stressful - this is all now a possibility in the not too distant future;)Debt Free 1st March 2017
