Hi - I've had a bus pass since I got to 60 (now 63). Does anyone know whether it will be removed under new legislation and returned when I get to 65?
The Government is currently consulting on many issues, including this one. There are, as yet, no firm proposals. There's more in a BBC News article here.
As this isn't an Old style topic, I'll move it to the Transport Board later.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

No it won't. The new legislation applies to newly eligible people, not those already entitled
Unless there's yet more new legislation.......0 -
My understanding is that they will be phased in at a later age as the state pension age is increased. I did hear a minister suggest that people who could afford it stopped using them though but that was just a voluntary solution. Unfortunately the current system means that the bus companies win financially because they are being paid for carrying pensioners on buses that would be running anyhow. Without being too political maybe companies shouldn't have been privatised.0

There was a man from Age Concern on the radio at lunch time, he was 61 and said he was ok and would be unaffected by any proposed changes.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

according to our council news sheet, if you`re not 65 when your bus pass runs out you have to wait until 65 to renew, I`ll have a year to wait0
