Halifax- My Online banking suspended!

Options
I've only been with Halifax for a few weeks and earlier today wanted to send a payment of £15 to my friend who has an account with Barclay's.
Did all the details and clicked to send and up came ''your account has been suspended'' Someone will contact me within 24 hours?

I have rung them and a person from the online help desk said it can be sensitive and even pick up on a low amount.

Never had this with previous bank (Yorkshire) so might be cancelling.

It's still suspended until someone rings me!

Well, Halifax have just rung and said they will take the suspension off the account, he explained it was flagged because of the low amount (£15) and a new payment. He said he could see I always use the same computer my IP is static, feel nervous now if I need to do another payment:o

This is a bit worrying because I tend to send a low-value trial payment whenever I add a new payee to an account.

I am currently in the process of moving (DDs & SOs etc.) to Halifax. Have I made a mistake?

I've been with Halifax for 4 years and the last 18 months I've done a lot pf my bankin on-line, I've got all my credit cards set up as direct debits and some standing orders etc, and touch wood I haven't had any stop issues with them, even if its been a 99p or £50 paypal payment, I sign in on the computers at home plus I have a moblie dongle for when I'm away (guessing that creates a new IP address), don't like using the free wifi if I'm checking banking etc.

They were brilliant when I had my card stolen, so I'm guessing the OP incident was one of those random lets do a security check.

I've had it once with Barclaycard, I was in Chester in disney Shop, wouldn't accept, there was me feeling really embarrased - thinking I'm sure there was space, then my mobile was ringing - apologied to the cashier I'll get rid of the call and ring Barclaycard - they'd beaten me to it, although the transaction was about £50, Chester was outside my area, so it automatically flagged up as This could be suspicious, - no its me on a day out. Although I felt a right idiot, when I thought about it, thought really good shows that unusual activity gets spotted and acted on.

Its most proberly new account and a small amount going on, I was told that when credit card fraud / debit card as well, if there stole the "person will do a small transaction if that gets the all clear they technically reads to them as a green light.... so they spend away.

I can fully appriciate it being a pain, but the other side of the coin, you know that there looking after their customer accounts, you most prob happenned to be in the wrong place at the right time xx

I managed to send the payment afterwards, the advisor who rang me said; I could always set up payments via the telephone service.
Also fraudsters do use small amounts!
Just flagged me,possibly with it being a new account.

Actually the card thief uses that as a way of proving to potential buyers of the card details that the card is indeed live, then they flog the details on to someone who is willing/able to clear you out.
