For what it's worth I give legal advice on Honest John

So are you a qualified solicitor, or just an enthusiastic amateur in which case how are you qualified to give legal advice on Honest John website.

Call me cynical if you like but we get newbies making unsubstantiated claims appearing on these forums.

Got anything useful to add for the OP, an opinion of events even or just want to point out how long you've been here, you were a newbie once no doubt, at least LucyBC has given the OP an option, expert or not, right or wrong, its up to the OP to decide.

Oh dear what a rant, the poster has come on here with an unestablished claim about giving legal advice on another website all I am trying to establish is whether they are qualified to give this advice, if that is the case then the OP may be more inclined to take notice of what they are posting especially as they have taken issue with another long established poster who is known to generally give good advice to posters on this site.

What has how long I have been here or once being a newbie got to do with this thread?

I am a qualified Barrister and specialise in motor insurance and consumer work mostly on on the claimant side. I have done so for 12 years. I now work as a corporate lawyer so I neither have nor need a practice licence.

Thank you for your clarification that is all I was asking.

My comments related to your negative comments about the quality of legal advice on Honest John.

Is this your reply to me asking how I insulted you?

Honest John is off this thread topic, so rather than debate it here, I will just point out that you opened up the matter with this:
For what it's worth I give legal advice on Honest John

I replied (and why did you use the expression "for what it's worth?):
Having seen some of the poor advice in Honest John's columns, it may not be worth much!

Which you now say was me insulting you!

    (Maybe you should sue?)

This happened to me a number of years ago, in the early 1990s

I was accused of denting a car door as I parked in the local sports centre car park while the 3rd party sat in his car.
He got out the car and said if I left he was putting me through my back window.....I laughed because I was aged about 22 at the time and going in to play 5 a side - he was around 60years old. He insisted that the cops were called. They were and an attendant from the sports center also came out to investigate.
The police arrived and examined his dented door. My car was unmarked, since there had been no contact. Turns out he had told the police his wife had witnessed it and the police said I would be charged with carless driving. I questioned that charge and stated that his wife wasn't present - she was in the sports centre and he was waiting for her to come out, nor was he parked legally in a bay when several were available. He also told the cops I had been drinking - a blatant lie.
At that point the cops said oh that changes everything - they basically said they wanted to see my documents. As I was abotu to play 5s they said they'd visit the house later - they did and I showed them my licence, insurance and MOT - all valid and current.
I was advised by the cop that I should inform my insurance incase he made a claim against me and they were quite happy that I hadn't been drinking, nor had I bumped his car.

As advised I told my insurance company.
As far as I know no claim ever came in and I never received any correspondence.

When my renewal came along a few months later my NCD went from 3years to 1 with a pending claim instead of 4 because this was still "open".
I had changed my car and ended up having to pay something like £120 per month for 7 months until my company decided that no claim was going to be submitted (or that they had argued it out). So I paid around £850 for my annual premium and was refunded about £500 to make up for my NCD being reinstated but the 7months were difficult paying that much insurance.

All sorted now and I discovered not long afterwards that the old bloke was a taxi driver. I figured someone else had done that to him and he tried to blame me.

Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!
