Knowing you're leaving the property in a cleaner condition than at the start of the tenancy is a different thing to being able to prove it. Get your proof sorted now by having dated photos taken on the day you vacate after having cleaned, cleaned, cleaned. Under normal circumstances the deposit should be returned to you in 14 days (I think) so this will not help you with getting the deposit for the new place. Is there anything your local authority can do for you by helping to provide a loan for the new deposit?0

if you are in scotland then the Deposit scheme does not apply0

Although, the OP and her LA do seem confused:shonar0612 wrote: »I just checked the estate agents website which says it is held in a tenancy deposit protection scheme. I have never been told anything about it. They just took the deposit and wrote that it was taken on the front of my tenancy pack!0 -
Shonar - the local Council may be able to help you with a bond/guarantee if you are on a low income.Contact the private sector rentals officer and ask. Basically, the Council (or a local charity in some areas) provide a written guarantee to the prospective LL, and if you cause damage to the property they will cover the cost and then seek recompense from you.0
