I would ask my dog Suki, who died in May, if she knew just how much we loved her. It would be more of a statement than a question though. I know that she knew we loved her, but I'd give anything to be able to tell her and for her to understand how much we miss her."Your life is what your thoughts make it"
"If you can't bite, don't show your teeth!"
R.i.P our beautiful girl Suki. We'll love and miss you forever

I would like to ask my dog to tell me all about her life history!
I would love to know how she got to be dropped off at a rescue - I think it is likely she has had two owners before me - the one who trained her to 'sit' and 'beg' and who clearly invested some time in her, and the ones who made her scared of shouting, let her claws get overgrown, her coat get fleabitten and then shaved her fur off before taking her to rescue.
Of course, this may all have been one owner, but my feeling is that her first owner was perhaps an older person who died or got ill, then she ended up with their relatives who didnt really want her, neglected her, and eventually sent her to rescue.
I am also pretty certain she lived with a middle aged/older lady with dark hair - we were once at a car boot, and I noticed her pulling on the lead and making 'happy noises' like she does when she sees me - when I looked up, she had spotted a particular lady with dark hair and a red coat, and abviously thought she recognised her - she was dying to go over and say hello - the lady noticed, and gave her a fuss, but when she got closer, Badger realised she wasnt who she thought. Dogs have long memories, don't they...0 -
My question would be is there anything I can do better as a owner? Because to be honest its hard to tell if she is licking my face because she likes me doing something, she don't like me doing something or she wants me to do something.0

I would be practical and ask my cats (yes i know its about dogs but hey) "If I let you out the front door, would you try and cross the road?" I suspect the answer is no, of course not, how stupid do you think we are. but I can't risk it!
Otherwise it might be to one of them "Why don't you ever sit on my lap?" if I was fancying a guilt trip for them!0 -
I'd ask mine if he was ready to die yet - he's old and on a heap of pills and I'm just not sure if his happy times outweight the times when he is in discomfort. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

morg_monster, I would be applying this scenario to my three cats as well!
I'd ask Teddy his life history before he came to me. He was semi-feral but now that he's tame he is so beautifully natured and so beautiful in appearance (ginger & white long hair) - I often get asked if he is pedigree, but no, he is just beautiful...but I would like to know why he became homeless.
Then I'd have a chat with Dylan and find out if he knows just how sick he was two years ago. The vet recommended he be put to sleep, but thank God I (not the vet...ME!) found an answer to the problem. I'd make sure Dylan knew to eat all the food with his medicine in it every day.
Then little Mitzi - I'd ask her what I could do to make her happier. Not that I don't think she is happy, but she is quite a private girl and it's hard to tell if she's bored or upset.0 -
I would ask my furries are they happy living with me and if not why.
They give me so much happiness I would want them to be happy too.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
Both my dogs are rescue greyhounds. One "disappeared" from racing for 3 years before turning up in a rescue centre, and the other one seems to have had several owners before someone took him to the vets to be put down because of injury, even though he wasn't two years old. I'd like to know what really happened, though, being dogs, they seem to have put it all behind them now.0

Well there's a few questions I would like to ask my deceased dogs but assuming that I would have to ask a living dog I would have to ask mine the simple question - are you happy?0
