Rough cost for changing toilets and hanging doors?

Options
Got the chap that recently did our kitchen and other building stuff we gad done recently popping over to price stuff up tomorrow. However, I'm wondering what the going rate is for hanging doors (we want to replace the hollow 50's ones we currently have) which would include putting the handles on etc. We also want to replace 2 of our toilets as one has a horrible plastic cistern and another is mink in colour, straight swap for nice new White close coupled toilets. Just fitting for everything, we will supply the doors, door furniture and toilets.

Any idea of price would be great so we have something to compare with.

I had my doors all changed a few years ago. The cost was £25 a door, Which I thought was dear at the time. As I couldn't be bothered to do it myself I paid what was asked. Can't help with the toilet cost because that is a job that I would always do myself. I would not expect it to take more than a day, probably less.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • Ta for that, looks like the doors will have to wait for a bit then! Gah! Why did people think that ripping out lovely solid wood doors and replacing them with horrific hollow plain ones was a great idea?! Lol

Cost me £25 a door a couple of years ago in Glasgow area.
That included fitting all hinges, handles and latches that I had supplied.
8 doors in one day for £200.

  • To be honest pawpurrs, I have no idea! I've never had to change doors before, it's all new to me lol

Anyway our chap came along yesterday to see what we wanted doing and he is going to call me back with his price. I might just get the toilets done first, and the doors done in a cuple if months time when I've saved more cash!

We paid £25 per door 5 years ago. Had 8 doors in all. He did a great job - I thought it was a good price ...

  • There's 8 more doors to change in our place too, 2 in the kitchen have already been done but that was included in the price of the kitchen fitting. I might need to save for another month or so to get the doors done but the loo's need changing as a priority! The doors can wait a little while yet.

Thanks everyone for the input, much appreciated!

hi,i am a chippie to trade and usually charge £30 quid per door, handles doors and hinges supplied by customer about an hours work per door, for 8 doors i would price it s a job and knock the price down to 25 quid a door,a days work.
speaking to mate mate who is a plumber and just happens to be in my house at this moment in time,he reckons if the toilet is being fitted in the same location and you supplied the toilet,it would be approx £100 per toilet, and he would supply new pan connecters, and any extra pipe work needed as this wouldnt be much, this would be for a straight swap,if it was more of an altertion it would cost more.

What sort of doors are you buying Welsh Totser? Need to buy some and looking for inspiration.
  • Thanks for that Stephen, much appreciated!

Sammy, I think I'm going to go down the hollow White moulded door option as it kinda suits the style of decor we have and they're cheap! As much as I'd love 30's style pitched pine doors I really can't afford them!
