Apparantly it is actually 'Microsoft Gold Certified' (Whatever the hack that means)
Seeming as its clearly a scam, makes me wonder what the hell Microsoft are doing endorsing them!:idea:0 -
This is the same scam that's been running for the last 8 months or so, it originally started out as people calling from 'Microsoft' at least that's what people were hearing, as they then advised that the target had their Operating System on their computer. One person reported that through listening carefully, the person on the end of the phone actually said he was calling from 'Mike Row Soft' but the target assumes they're talking about the maker of Windows and so pays up the £40 required for the 'service'. What they're actually doing is asking you to log onto a website such as https://secure.logmein.com/UK/ which in itself isn't illegal however they then use the site to download and install things such as various FREE antivirus then upload a utility or two so they can stay in contact with you apparently, they then charge your credit card the required amount.

They're trading under an actual company name though, that's the scary thing! even a website offering similar services.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Way I see it. Its actually legal so theres not a lot can be done about it
Theyre genuinely endorsed by microsoft (Not that that matters either way really, but it certainly makes it more official looking). All they do is phone people. If people let them, they then set up the computer (id love to know what they do, but so far as I can tell it IS legit, as in putting on security etc) then charging the customer for the service
What IS disgusting is the way theyre trying to frighten people into doing just this. Many more vulnerable, not particularly tech savvie people, would probably jump at letting them help as they wouldnt know any different. Theyre also lying when they tell people theyve been infected or whatever. So that part probably is illegal. But heck ~ thats going to be a minefield to sue over! (especially as its an Indian company):idea:0 -
The more people that contact Microsoft the more likely that they are to listen http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?WS=solutionfinder0
