my advice would be to mind your own business and get a life, jealousy is a bad thing, you seem to know enough about who has applied for what in who's name that they must be friends of yours or your listening to rumours, if i had friends like you i would no longer need any enemies.

    Haha thanks for your advice...

You obviously agree with benefit fraud, credit card fraud... but I work hard for my salary and pay my tax's... not for people like him to live the life of Reilly... getting handouts left right and centre...

If she was unaware of the cards, and disagrees with it. She needs to report it to the police immediately otherwise she will be liable for them. However if she did sign the paperwork it will be difficult to prove, it would be best if the guy had forged the signatures. It is always an uphill struggle to prove fraud especially when done by the family.

If she does not goto the police, the card issuer will unlikely do anything as it is not upto the person to provide proof fraud has happened, generally this is obtained by getting help from the police.

    Hi Dom,

people I know on benefits aren't living the life of Reilly, they are struggling. If you look at the benefit amounts on the government sites they are not huge so I always wonder where the money comes from to have 2 cars etc...maybe the life of Reilly is really coming from credit cards/catalogues etc?

    Ted

    Ted,

He runs a business from home and openly admits he only pays £50 a month rent as housing benefits pay rest, so he's cheated system somewhere... he's just had a £1500 pay out of benefits...

If it's not true then he's got nothing to worry about... he's no friend of mine anyway...

There is no harm in giving an anonymous tip off to the government fraud departments. They will run an investigation themselves, seeing on what benefits are paid against what they have on record to what the person owns.

If the person has brought stuff on credit it will explain it, however items on credit can see be considered assets and can affect some benefit payments. There is no harm in mentioning it, but no point in getting wound up about it.

In case of fraud that does not affect you, there is little you can really do. As for the cards you cannot intervine, it must be the victim affected.

...but when you apply for a credit card, you have to call the card company to activte the card, and only the named person whom applied for the card can do that, so wont it be impossible for him to do that without her knowing! the card company would want to speak to her surely.

A failing one... but he doesnt pay himself a salary, instead the business buys everything as he has the company credit cards... oh well, not going to worry about it, not really my concern... just hate benefit cheats when there's other family desperate for more money...

I can see where you're coming from. If he is cheating the system (and it does sound like it from your earlier posts - at least on face value) then it's good to report him. Like you've said he's got nothing to hide and it is public money that's being spent to support his lifestyle. If he's not ripping off the system then you've none nothing wrong except waste a civil servant's time!!

It does make me sick that people will cheat the system - my partner was on benefits for years, and it's not much money to live off, but that's your share and it's not fair to try and claim more from it.
