I was going to post my recipe for sweet & sour sauce, but then I saw the above one for jerk marinade. Fresh chillies and chilli paste - woohoo!

Bit of paprika? cayenne pepper? - drooling now at the thought :D
  • Hi,

I hope this post is in the right place and someone can help me with this.

I have about 200g of diced pork in my fridge that needs to be eaten tonight.

I used the other half of the 400g pack for a pork and chilli stew that I made the other evening but the pork in that was as tough as old boots!! I followed the recipe to the letter- browned the pork; set it aside whilst I made my sauce; re-added the pork to the sauces and allowed the whole lot to simmer for about 20-25 mins- but it was horrible!

I want to use up the rest of the pack but I don't know how to cook it so that it won't be all chewy! I am cooking some pasta with it and I wanted to add the pork to the pasta when I serve. How would you recommend cooking it so that it is moist and tender?

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Sling it in the slow cooker. Follow whatever recipe you like but when it comes to simmering put in the slow cooker if you have one.

Otherwise transfer to a casserole dish and leave in oven for several hours on a really low eat.

Long slow cooking is really the only way of being sure it is tender if it isn't loin meat. (ie tenderloin, loin chops etc)
  • I don't have a slow cooker!

How long would I need to leave it in the oven in a casserole dish for it to be tender? And on what heat?

    Hi Piggles,

To ensure it's tender I would give it an hour or two in a moderate oven. There's an earlier thread with more advice on cooking diced pork so I've added your thread to it to keep the ideas together.

    Hi :)

I managed to get loads of diced pork for 10p a pack on new years eve and i thought it would be great to use in the slow cooker - but...

i cant seem to find any basic recipes to follow (and i need recipes or it goes wrong).

I spent hours yesterday on here hunting for pork recipes and have spent all morning going through the bbc good food website but still not come up with anything!

we like quite plain recipes but am willing to try something different too.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

ideally 4 recipes to use up all the packs so we arent eating the same thing weeks on end.

    Thank you.
