What happens to outstanding bill .....

If someone has died and there is an outstanding bill to an electricity company - this person was a relative but was on incapacity benefit and has left no money. What happens to the amount owing to the electricity company?

    Technically it comes out of their estate.

    In practice, in the situation you describe, it will be written off.
