Garden table destroyed in wind

We bought a glass-top table with chairs for our garden from Homebase a few weeks ago. It wasn't cheap and seemed sturdy but imagine our dismay to discover that it has blown over and smashed in the wind this evening. We live in a relatively sheltered spot in Somerset so surely it is not 'fit for purpose' ? Do we have any rights to claim a replacement from Homebase ?

    No.

I do not believe Homebase have any control over the wind in your garden.

You are in the best position to judge whether the table should be moved inside or not.

OP, you'd be surprised of just how much damage a strong gust of wind can do. Try your home insurance.

Your insurance should pay out - we had a large patio heater complete with gas cylinder blow over and smash the other year and the insurance paid out without any problem

We had exactly the same thing happen to us but we did not even consider blaming anyone else other than nature! We Just replaced it and put it down to experience and now move it inside if the weather is bad.

    Troll......
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
