Problems with Bt cancellation charge PLS HELP

hi,

7 months ago I needed a line for my new rented flat. (taking into account at the time i new i would be moving with in 7-8months), flat also needed to be reconnected. Went with BT free reconnection contract 18 months free wkends.

I double checked and triple checked on phone and paper work what the charges would be to cancel the contract before the it ended:

£7.50 per mnth for every month left of contract and give 14 days notice.

7months later and I need to cancel as im moving in with the parents. I would of taken the contract with me but as I am not responsible for the bills i can't. So when I called BT to advise I need to cancel I expected about a fee of around £80.

£7.50 x 11 mnths left on contact = £82.5

Only to be told £180 odd !!

They have advised that as I got the free connection I would need to pay this charge of £124.99 plus the £7.50 for every month left in the contract. I am beyond angry with BT!!

I have checked all paper work from time of purchase stating what I was told I would need to pay. No where can I find this detail of paying the connection charge!

I phoned again to go over this and was advised that with my letters (of which i have kept everything) there should be a terms and condition booklet in which it would be stated! I advised I have not been sent such a booklet and have just got the letters advising me what I already believed to be true.

In the letter it has a section "a note about cancelling" where it does advise about the £7.50 thing. It even gives a link to terms and charges for cancelling . Again not mention there!

I have now requested for Customer care to listen back on the conversations when I first took out the contract. They have advised they have put the request through and can take 3 days.

Please help me!!

I originally heard about this BT deal (free connection charge) on this forum so i am hoping that some one knows what the deal is with cancelling it!? I cant seem to find anything in past threads regarding the extra cancellation charge !

Please any advise appreciated!

That must be incorrect. It is a travesty of what is at

If the customer decides to end the contract within the 18 month minimum term, they will incur a single charge of £7.50(on the Unlimited Weekend and Unlimited Evening & Weekend plans) or £8.00(on the Unlimited Anytime plan) for each month left of the minimum term.

    Hi fifimation

I would like to look into this for you to see what cancellation charges have been raised on your account and to make sure that we have billed you correctly for cancelling the contract and if not I can make sure any refunds are carried out correctly to make sure you are paying the correct amount. If you check my profile you will find my contact information and if you send me your account details I can look into this and contact you once I have investigated this.
