Hello all!!
I bought a new acer laptop from tesco on the 8th february 2010. It worked fine for a few months but then started running really slow. I called Acer and they said to do the system restore, so i did and it worked fine again for about a week.
Next my computer just would not boot up, so Acer agreed to get it collected and repaired. I arranged twice for it to be picked up by a courier service, and twice they did not arrive. My computer has been sitting in a box waiting repair for over a month now. I rang acer to complain but they were very unhelpful and basically just said it wasn't their fault it wasn't picked up.
I am now well and truly fed up with the situation, am I within my rights to march down to Tesco and ask for a refund and put the whole sorry affair behind me?!
Any thoughts much appreciated!!

As it is within the first 6 months you can go back to tesco and get them to replace or repair without having to prove that the problem is inherent from purchase.
You should have dealt with Tesco from the start, not Acer as your contract is with Tesco.
Edited to add you are not entitled to a refundThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

thanks for your reply,
just wondering why i wouldn't be entitled to ask for a refund? I'm going into Tesco tomorrow to plead my case so I'm trying to work out what im going to say, how im going to say it and what I should be expecting from them!0 -
I would just ring Tesco HO don't bother with the store, my sister bought an Acer laptop from Tesco experienced the same as yourself, they are crap machines. She got a full refund, no problems.thanks for your reply,

Because you are outside of the rejection period (a 'reasonable' amount of time to inspect the goods) the ball is in the retailers court as to the choice of remedy - repair / refund / replacement.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
thanks for all your replies!
If I am offered a replacement, do I have to accept the same product? I would rather not have another Acer laptop if at all avoidable!0 -
success!
rang tesco customer services (got through to the right person after about 10 tries!) they are going to give me a replacement so im off to get a new laptop!
they also said i can get another laptop up to the same value i paid so i don't have to get another acer! yay0
