Hello,
My boss rang me this afternoon to tell me that the company had ceased trading today, all my colleagues had been sent home, and that we were all being made redundant with instant effect!
I am currently on Maternity Leave and until the 3rd of September, I had then booked three weeks holiday that had been acruing so that I could afford to spend the maximum amount of time with my little girl.
Can anyone advise me of my rights and what I should do next please. I have not had this in writting but have been told (by my boss and HR) that the months notice starts today!
Please help! Thanks Guys!

If the company have ceased trading then you should go to your JobCentre and speak to them. A verbal notice is lawful, so it doesn't have to be in writing. Their advisers will be able to tell you what you are entitled to and what the process for any payments owed to you are. Unfortunately, these days, there are a lot of similar stories and they will have all the information at their fingertips.0
