Carbon Monoxide Detector Discs

just a quick note for anyone who has these or is thinking of having these.
They will not help at all. If you want a CO detector, get a battery operated one and not a colour changing disc/patch, the disc are firstly a false economy and secondly a false security.
A disc also has a shelf life, a battery detector doesn't apart from the battery life.
And remember, ventilation and maintenence is the main key to decreasing the risk of CO poisoning. Keep an eye on your flames - yellow is bad, blue is good.

we used to give out carbon monoxide detectors at work as we did a lot of safety checks on old peoples houses but the fire brigade told us to sop using them as they were not that effective and could lull them into a false sense of security.0
