Thanks to kojadi on the Ryanair Fan Forum for this top tip.
Ryanair typically change their headline sale every Tuesday and Friday. This is the sale advertised on the top of the left hand column on the homepage that covers spare capacity some time in the next 2 to 4 months. This is the cheapest time to buy Ryanair flights: anything outside this promotion is generally pricier and accrues the online check-in fee. I've been tracking all Ryanair promos for more than 12 months here.
Promotions are either "up to" percentages or flat fares. If, on a Monday or Thursday night, you're looking at a flight that's covered by the current promotion, but aren't sure whether you want to wait until tomorrow's sale kicks in to get a better deal, you can get a sneak preview of tomorrow's sale by decoding the URL of the sale's animated gif image.
For instance, here's the animated gif image from ryanair.com for the current promotion, that runs 13 - 15 July 2010:

The image URL is http://www.ryanair.com/img/cday/100713/cday-MT.gif
...where 100713 is the start date of the promotion written backwards: (20)10.07.13
(there is another URL for fares in £, but the sale is generally the same figure for € and £, so I'm sticking with € for simplicity).
So the sale that starts tomorrow, 16 July can be found by going to the URL:
http://www.ryanair.com/img/cday/100716/cday-MT.gif

The new animated gif seems to get uploaded the day before a sale begins. Handy if you're unsure whether your flight will get cheaper or more expensive tomorrow!

Simples: I commute with Ryanair most weeks. Since my route is almost always included by the running promotion, I've learnt over the last two years when and when not to buy my tickets. And there's no reason not to share that experience :beer:0 -
A little bump to demonstrate the uses of this trick. Here's tomorrow's sale icon:

(spotted by user LV66 on http://ryanair.site-forums.com/ryanair-news-f1/price-action-ryanair-for-the-next-days-t1296-60.htm#6920)
Same terms as the current sale (September, October) but €2 / £2 more than the current promotion. If you're currently wavering over flights costing £8, you can expect them to jump to £10 at midnight tonight :beer:0 -
This is really useful information.

I'm afraid I'm often too busy shuttling between GB and Ireland to be a regular here, but you can bookmark the well maintained thread on the Ryanair fan forum that should be updated twice a week:

Thanks.
I was just being lazy.
Now added to my favourites and I have got the hang of inputting the correct data to get my sneak preview.
Won't be long before Michael's boffins change the formula and the code breakers on here will have to get cracking again.
Long may the Bletchley Park spirit prevail !0 -
Bump. This is too good to miss. Starts tomorrow for the weekend, supposedly to celebrate the new base at Seville. Some routes are already showing £3 fares for September, but I'd wait until tomorrow just in case others have yet to load.

Yeah, that'll be a good sale. I hate being near NCL. We only have 3 routes; Dublin where I've already been, Barcelona which is never at the lowest prices, and Oslo which is too expensive once your there.
But Oslo is already at £3, as you say some are already.
Do you any info. for the new Seville base? Will more routes be added from there?0
