Last minute summer holidays

Does anyone have experience of getting cheap last minute deals in August? I've got the kennels booked for the dogs but still can't find anything cheap enough (that's what we want), so I was thinking about just leaving it for now and trying last minute. Or is this going to be almost impossible during the summer holidays?

I booked a haven site on Monday for 26th july and its gone down today by about £30, but I guess it depends on how much you want to go away as you may miss out if the accommodation sells out.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

I've got an idea but not sure if you would really go for it? Coach holidays? There are deals around the UK and Europe for about £2-300 depending on where you go & how long, but seems EXTREMELY resaonable . Look on the web special offers link on http://www.nationalholidays.com

Those coach holidays look great, but the pick up points are all up north I think. We are right down south, so it wouldn't really work. They look excellent for anyone who lives up that way though. I wonder if there's anything similar down south. Or maybe the hotel without the coach. I hadn't thought about hotels at all really because of the fact that the holiday parks have entertainment for the kids, but I guess some hotels have evening stuff on too, don't they?

Yes, I think I will just keep checking the Hoseasons and Haven late deals throughout the holidays, and hope for the best!

    Thanks guys.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right thing, but if I am then they only mention 2 dates for UK holidays and they are both before my kids break up :-( thanks tho.

Two sites worth looking at for proper late availability.....
    1. http://www.lastminute-cottages.co.uk/ - says what it does on the tin
    2. http://www.therealvisitorsbook.co.uk/ - look at their 'late deals'

Contact the owners direct and, if you can hold your nerve, as late as possible, and then make them an offer - don't be too tied down to what they're quoting - they'd rather have their property full than empty!
    Good luck,
    Sam
